Philip DreissigackerPhilip is a versatile horseman with an extensive background in riding and training horses. He has trained and competed horses from young horse-in-hand all the way through Grand Prix level jumping. Philip maintains a longstanding relationship with Joe Fargis and continues to pursue his own training through yearly clinics with Joe Fargis, George Morris, and George Schneider. Philip encourages his students pursue any occasion to learn through participating in clinics and other learning opportunities.
Philip was born and raised in Lake Placid, New York where he started riding at the age of four with the encouragement of his father, Jack, who is a wonderful horseman himself. Philip continued his passion for riding with The East Kiln Pony Club at Newberry Farm. When he was 16 Philip earned his "A" rating from the United States Pony Club Association. Philip has an impressive training history. Through his relationship with Newberry Farm and the Newberry family, Philip was able to train with a range of extraordinary professional equestrian athletes. He trained in dressage with Olympian and famed dressage rider Jessica Ranshausen. Philip also trained in show jumping with internationally recognized and notorious George Morris, who was a close friend of the Newberry family. Additionally, Philip received cross-country training from two of the most influential horsemen of the twentieth century, Michael Page and Denny Emerson. In 1974, Philip began working for Alice Hooker at the Middle Tennessee Pony Club. Afterwards, he spent three years riding and showing horses for Gene Mische and Steve Stevens at Imperial Farms in Palmetto, Florida. Philip continued to develop his career as a professional equestrian in Kansas City, Missouri, working at Line Creek for Fred Kahn. In 1979, Philip moved to Breckenridge, CO with his partner, Tony Wilson, where he continued his career as an independent professional equestrian. Philip is a proud member of the United States Equestrian Federation (USEF) and the Colorado Hunter Jumper Association (CHJA). |
